A Two-Day Floral Design Workshop
Day One, September 20th | Designing with the Landscape
9:00 AM- 7PM
8:45 | Welcome & Farm Tour
Begin the day with coffee and a guided walk through Sunnyside Urban Farm. We'll tour the flower fields, discuss the seasonal varieties growing on the farm, and explore how locally grown flowers influence thoughtful floral design.
10:00 AM- 3 PM | Sustainable Floristry with T.J. McGrath
T.J. will share his philosophy of creating impactful floral work using sustainable mechanics and natural materials. Through demonstration and discussion, participants will learn techniques that celebrate movement, seasonality, and the beauty of locally-grown flowers. Working together, we'll transform the landscape into a large-scale floral installation using flowers harvested from the farm. Participants will gain hands-on experience designing with natural mechanics while learning T.J.'s approach to creating immersive floral environments.
** Prepare to enjoy a working lunch featuring fresh, locally inspired fare while connecting with fellow flower growers and designers build out a large scale installation.

Gather beneath the pergola for an intimate farm dinner surrounded by the floral installation we created together. Share a meal, connect with fellow creatives, and enjoy an evening celebrating flowers, community, and the beauty of the season.
Day Two, September 21st | The Art of the Centerpiece
8:30 AM | Light Farm Breakfast
Start the morning with pastries, fruit, coffee, and conversation overlooking the flower fields.
9:30 AM | Centerpiece Demonstration with T.J. McGrath
T.J. will demonstrate his approach to designing sculptural centerpieces, covering mechanics, composition, color, movement, and the details that create memorable floral work.
11:00 AM | Hands-On Design Session
Participants will create their own centerpiece using flowers harvested from Sunnyside Urban Farm. T.J. and Chelsea will provide individual instruction and guidance throughout the design process.
1:00- 3:00 PM | Showcase & Closing Conversation
Celebrate each participant's work, share final thoughts, ask questions, and leave inspired with new techniques, meaningful connections, and your completed centerpiece to enjoy at home.

Not included in the workshop is your personal food, travel and lodging. Here are my recommendations:

Hyatt House, Pleasant Grove — closest full-service hotel, about 10 minutes from the farm, with suites and a hot breakfast if you're staying both nights.
Hideaway Suites on 5th (American Fork) — about 20 minutes fromt eh farm, a themed boutique B&B if you want something memorable to match the weekend.

Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point — botanical gardens a short drive away, an easy pairing with a floral-focused weekend.
Timpanogos Cave National Monument — a scenic hike-and-tour up American Fork Canyon if you want to get outside before or after the workshop.
Museum of Natural Curiosity — a fun add-on if you're bringing family along for the trip.
Sundance- hike, ride the ski lift, drive the alpine scenic loop (hello fall colors!), visit the bar…so many things to do at a ski resort in September

Budda's Bakery & Breakfast (Pleasant Grove) — Hawaiian breakfast spot, famous for the sticky rolls and loco moco. Great for a morning-of-workshop bite.

Oteo Restaurant — family-run, upscale Mexican that keeps coming up as one of the best dinners in the county.
Sol Agave (American Fork) — Mexican/BBQ with a big, lively following and an enormous review base to match.
Mástra Italian Bakery Bistro (American Fork) — scratch-made Italian, small space, worth the wait.
Ocotillo Prime Leña y Mar (American Fork) — a step up for dinner, good for a nicer night out during the workshop weekend.
Cancellation & Transfer Policy
All ticket sales are final and non-refundable. We put a tremendous amount of care and planning into this workshop, from farm prep to guest counts to the meals we share together, and refunds simply aren't something we're able to offer.
That said, life happens! If you're no longer able to attend, you're welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else. Just let us know their name and contact information ahead of the workshop so we can update our records. Please note that we are not able to sell or find a buyer for your ticket on your behalf, any transfer or resale is up to you to arrange.
